The Sketa Grimshaw Motorcycle club originally formed after a group of keen Charlton Motorcyclists thought a club would be a good way to raise money for some local charities.  For example the Hospital, Ambulance Service and Rural Fire Brigades our main fund raiser is our annual Redback Rally now held on the second weekend in February .   S.G.T.M.C.C was originally formed in 1982 by about 10 members going for rides and socializing with each other.  It wasn't until 1992 before the club became official.  This was when they elected a President Treasurer and Secretary.  They held the first meeting of the Sketa Grimshaw tourers on October the 21st 1992.  There was 13 people that attended including the founding committee executive.  Alan Nicolson was elected as President, Graham Young Secretary and Ford Keith Treasurer. Over the years the club has developed from just being a bunch of blokes riding to rallies and having a good time we have formed a racing team.  The racing part of the club has riders in both motocross and road racing. We have had some very successful riders from our club.  Motocross has seen quite a few good riders come through the ranks.

A Boy by the name of Ben Nicolson (Son of Alan Nicolson).  He is only 14 years old and has already a large amount of achievements including.  He has been racing competitive since he was 9 years old.  He has one main ambition in his career and that is to become a world class motocross racer.  He races a KX 85cc Big wheel and is in the 12-16 year "A Grade" class.  He also races an XR 250cc which he finished in 8th place on at the 2002 Victorian Thumpernats junior 4 stroke class held at Wonthaggi.  At the Victorian Motocross titles he finished 3rd in the "B Grade" 12-16 year age group and was regraded to "A Grade".  In July 2002 he competed in the Australian titles held in Perth, he finished in 13th position.  This rated him 13th in Australia.
